Vaginal Revitalization Q&A

What is vaginal revitalization?

As a woman ages, changes in her hormone production, the natural aging process, and the effects of childbirth cause changes in vaginal tissue. It’s common to experience thinning, irritation, and more significant inflammation that makes daily life uncomfortable.

Vaginal revitalization at Cascade MedSpa & Laser Centre uses diVa laser therapy to solve problems such as:

  • Vaginal dryness and burning
  • Vaginal tightness
  • Painful intercourse
  • Urinary stress incontinence

The laser therapy also restores sensation and pleasure during sexual encounters. Women going through menopause especially appreciate diVa treatment to improve their vaginal health.

How does vaginal revitalization work?

Vaginal revitalization is a simple, noninvasive process. A topical numbing cream is applied to your vaginal area to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. You lay on a treatment table with your feet propped up in stirrups while your provider uses a sterile wand to deliver two beams of laser energy to the wall of the vaginal canal for a revitalizing effect.

The initial beam from the diVa laser deeply resurfaces the tissue layers, replacing them with improved quality tissue. The second laser beam heats the layers that produce collagen.

diVa replaces damaged tissue with fresh, healthy tissue to improve your vaginal health and reduce symptoms of vaginal discomfort.

Does vaginal revitalization hurt?

Vaginal revitalization is comfortable and takes less than 20 minutes. During the laser therapy, you may feel slight pressure and warmth against the vaginal wall. Some women experience increased sensitivity near the vaginal opening during treatment.

Most women tolerate the procedure quite well and value the benefits provided by the diVa treatment.

What is recovery like following vaginal revitalization?

Some women notice small amounts of blood-tinged discharge, spotting, or discomfort following the treatment. These side effects usually clear up within 48 hours. You can go back to most normal activities right after your procedure, but do avoid sexual intercourse or the use of tampons for about 48 hours after the procedure.
