How Does PRP Enhance Microneedling Treatment?
Microneedling can help a variety of skin issues from wrinkles to various types of skin imperfections. Adding in platelet-rich plasma can make treatments even more effective. Read on to learn more.

Aging may bring the benefit of wisdom but it — coupled with living life — can also usher in unwelcome skin changes like wrinkles, acne scars, sunspots, and more. Fortunately, microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can help improve the skin's texture and tone as well as create a natural glow.

Whether you're looking to rejuvenate your skin, hair or body, our team at Cascade MedSpa & Laser Centre in Baxter, Minnesota, can help with all your aesthetic needs. With our many years of medical training and aesthetic care, we provide state-of-the-art personalized treatments using only FDA-approved, top-of-the-line products and devices for the best possible outcome.

Microneedling

Microneedling triggers new collagen production by pricking the skin with small, sterilized needles. These tiny wounds encourage the body's extraordinary healing powers and result in skin that is smoother and healthier.

It can be used to address a wide variety of problems including wrinkles and fine lines, scars including those from acne, enlarged pores, dark spots known as hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, and more. Typically, it is performed on the face but can also be used to treat stretch marks on the body.

Platelet-rich plasma

Platelet-rich plasma is used for a variety of purposes including healing injuries like pulled muscles, joint sprains, and ligament tears as well as knee osteoarthritis, wounds, and even hair loss. It can also be added to microneedling treatments to make the procedure more effective.

Blood consists of different components including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets which are suspended in blood plasma. Platelet-rich plasma therapy involves blood being drawn then put into a centrifuge where the parts are separated and the platelets become concentrated into PRP, which is then applied to the skin.

Platelets contain special proteins to aid the blood in clotting and help in wound healing so the addition of this step to microneedling may make the procedure more effective.

Benefits and results

Microneedling with platelet-rich plasma is a relatively quick procedure with minimal recovery time required. We meet with each client individually to discuss their goals and then create a personalized treatment plan. This may involve multiple courses of treatment as well as potential maintenance appointments.

Results may be apparent in as little as two weeks though often more time is needed to see the treatment's full impact.

If you're tired of looking in the mirror and seeing wrinkles and blemishes, microneedling with platelet-rich plasma could be just what you need for smoother, clearer skin. Call our office or click here to book an appointment today.
